The Home Page is much like a personal timeline for you. It will have a collection of all posts in the order you select from all the boards or topics you follow. As an example, it acts much like a Facebook timeline.
General Discussion is the board everyone is added to by default when they join. It is a where you can post any topic, show off your collection, talk about current events, or anything else. This will likely be the most used board on the forum so we suggest staying part of it!
Discussion boards are essentially like groups on Facebook. Each are separate from the main group (General Discussion) but any member can join any group. They all share the same rules, it just lets you pick which posts you'll see on your main feed (Home). You can find a list of all the discussion boards by clicking the link at the top of the site.
Topics are the tags you can add to your posts so that people who follow certain topics will see it. They work similar to the boards, but are stand alone and cover a wider range of events and sections of the hobby. You can add more than one topic per post such as "German Militaria", and "World War II" to describe a WWII Iron Cross.
To create a post, go to the board you'd like to make it in, or from the homepage select the board you want to post in and type you post out in the text box. Attach any pictures or doc files you want to include and click post.
To ask a question do the same as for a post but select the question option. You may also do a question poll by checking the box and filling in the options.
To start a discussion, again same as the post but select discussion this time.
Other members who see your post may click "Like" if they like the post, and write a comment on it or add to the discussion if it is a discussion post.
Titles are a way for you to let the community know who you are. On your profiles page under edit, you can add a title to yourself. It can be what rank you were in the military, what your occupation is, or something funny. That is for you to do as you please, we ask that you don't use; Admin or Administrator, Moderator or Mod, Staff, or anything else that could confuse users.
Badges are assigned colored tags by the Admin staff to distinguish certain members from others. Badges you might see are Administrator, Moderator, Reporter, Dealer, Historian, and Community Leader. Each have been assigned for a specific reason. Please do not ask for a tag, they are given out to top members of our community of professionals within our hobby at the discretion of the staff.
Verification is given to your account after you have A) Verified your email address B) Posted 10 or more posts that do not violate our rules or C) Have provided adequate information about ones identity to our Admins such as a dealer or historian.
If a post you had made is no longer where it was, it could be for one of a few reasons.
#1 It violated our communities rules and was removed. You would have an email about this from our staff as to why it was removed.
#2 It was posted in the wrong board. If it was posted in the wrong board, an Admin or Mod may copy your information and post it where it belongs with credit to you as the poster. After the re-post the original will be deleted.
#3 It has been posted for 30 Days on our Buy-Sell-Trade Board. Posts will be removed after it has been on the buy-sell-trade board after 30 days or once the item was sold.
